Join Comms for our monthly virtual meeting, taking place on the first Monday of every month from 7-9 pm. We'll provide status updates on ongoing projects, discuss content creation and beyond. 

Join DSA-LB, SEIU-UHW and our partner organizations — LB Indivisible, CLUE Justice, LAANE, and LB for a Just Economy — for a community Town Hall for Proposition 40, the California Billionaire Tax Act, which will be on the ballot in November! There will be a panel discussion, Q&A, and avenues to get involved in the local Prop 40 campaign. Light refreshments will be provided. Join our regular Political Education Committee meetings. PolEd creates educational programming such as regular night schools, member trainings, and reading groups to further develop our socialist analysis and practice. 

Join our Tax the Rich Working Group in phonebanking in support of Proposition 40 AKA The Billionaire Tax Act and to urge voters to vote NO on Props 41 and 42 which pose a threat to this and other wealth taxes. There will be a training at the beginning — no phone banking experience needed!

Interested in getting involved with our Labor Committee?  The DSA-LB Labor Committee organizes around issues facing workers in our workplaces. We seek to strengthen and build solidarity with the broader labor movement and fight for socialism using our power to stop the profits of our bosses. We strive to give our members the skills to organize in their workplaces and build power for working people.

Long Beach Transit is one of the best ways to get around our city. Not only does it support students, workers, and those with disabilities, but it also allows people to move within the city and not just through it. DSA-LB is organizing a campaign made of a mass coalition of transit riders and local organizations to demand a fare-free bus system in Long Beach by the 2028 Olympics. This is one of the deliberation and decision-making meetings this month for our campaign. Members will get to discuss the work we have done so far, introduce and vote on important proposals, and decide how to direct our resources this month. September 16: Hybrid Working Meeting at Trademark Brewing, 7-9pmBring your laptops and grab a drink! We will be working on high-priority campaign tasks and projects. Members who can't be in-person can join through the Zoom link to participate. Warning: in-person attendance carries the risk of joining after-meeting hangs. This is the second of the deliberation and decision-making meetings this month for our campaign. Members will get to discuss the work we have done so far, introduce and vote on important proposals, and decide how to direct our resources for the next month.

Join us as we door knock for Proposition 40 — the California Billionaire Tax Act. No canvassing experience required! There will be a brief training at the start of the event and new canvassers can be paired with more experienced members. Be sure to bring a fully charged smartphone, sun protection, and appropriate footwear for walking!

Socialism requires a global effort to transform society and Long Beach, in particular, is an international city. The DSA Long Beach International Solidarity Committee (ISC) facilitates work around these struggles of the working class around the world, deepening an understanding of the interconnected nature of these struggles. ISC coordinates action with other local organizations, National DSA's International Committee (IC), and the rest of the Chapter's work around issues such as immigration, Palestinian liberation, the National Democratic Struggle in the Philippines, and Cuba solidarity. Every third Tuesday of the month, 6:30pm Help us welcome members into the seas of socialism! Right now, we're building pipelines to get new and old members plugged into the Chapter and its campaigns. If you're into breaking down barriers to engagement, this is a place for you.

Curious about socialism? Are you new to DSA? Are you new to Long Beach? Then our Member Engagement Committee invites you to our DSA-LB 101. At this orientation, we’ll talk about: how capitalism functions and why socialism is radically opposed to it the history of our organization and our chapter in particular the current projects we’re working on and how you can get involved We'll also learn more from you about where you want to plug in and answer questions you might have! DSA-LB has endorsed Prop. 40 — the 2026 Billionaire Tax Act. The Act would levy a one-time 5% wealth tax on individuals with a net worth of more than $1 billion. This tax would fund crucial social services, jobs and healthcare in our state.  Join our Tax the Rich Working Group at our next meeting as we build our campaign to tax the rich! Laptop/tablet recommended to bring, but not required.

What: Join our Tax the Rich Working Group as we do one final crowd canvassing bar crawl in support of Prop 40, AKA the Billionaire Tax Act! We'll be passing out literature in support of Prop 40 while making our way down 4th street. Costumes encouraged! When: Saturday 10/31 7pm Where: We will meet at at V room (918 E 4th St, Long Beach, CA 90802) and then make our way through the night east on 4th St, ending the night at O'Connell's (2746 E 4th St, Long Beach, CA 90814)!
