Join our regular Political Education Committee meetings. PolEd creates educational programming such as regular night schools, member trainings, and reading groups to further develop our socialist analysis and practice. 

Join Comms for our monthly virtual meeting, taking place on the first Monday of every month from 7-9 pm. We'll provide status updates on ongoing projects, discuss content creation and beyond. 

Long Beach Transit is one of the best ways to get around our city. Not only does it support students, workers, and those with disabilities, but it also allows people to move within the city and not just through it. DSA-LB is organizing a campaign made of a mass coalition of transit riders and local organizations to demand a fare-free bus system in Long Beach by the 2028 Olympics. When you join, you can help with: Policy Research: determining language for a viable program, research potential bus routes to pilot program Outreach and Engagement: develop and conduct a multi-lingual transit rider survey, establish coalition partners, neighborhood canvassing, meeting with elected officials, fare blitzes Tech Support: creating digital infrastructure for survey, support for digital campaign tools Design and Comms: messaging around campaign with graphics, videos, emails, merch, and more Public Education: developing materials around universal public goods, host political education events to build support for the campaign No prior campaign organizing experience needed! Come learn about the first steps in the Campaign and sign up to lend your skills to win this crucial demand! 

DSA-LB has endorsed Prop. 40 — the 2026 Billionaire Tax Act. The Act would levy a one-time 5% wealth tax on individuals with a net worth of more than $1 billion. This tax would fund crucial social services, jobs and healthcare in our state.  Join our Billionaire Tax Working Group at our next meeting as we build our campaign to tax the rich!

Celebrate our accomplishments and help us raise money for our Chapter campaigns! Join us on August 8th in San Pedro (yes, one of the non-Long Beach cities within our jurisdiction!) to have some fun with comrades while we raise some money for our Chapter. We'll have merch for sale, member bingo, and prizes. All proceeds will support Chapter priorities, including: Fare-Free Long Beach Transit Tax the Rich Anti-ICE and anti-Anduril This event is open to all members and guests of members. The venue is all ages and family friendly so stop by with kiddos and meet some other socialist parents in the Chapter as well. *Please have any adults RSVP individually to help us provide the venue with an accurate headcount.  The end of summer is approaching quickly and hopefully so is the end of capitalism! 🌹

Socialism requires a global effort to transform society and Long Beach, in particular, is an international city. The DSA Long Beach International Solidarity Committee (ISC) facilitates work around these struggles of the working class around the world, deepening an understanding of the interconnected nature of these struggles. ISC coordinates action with other local organizations, National DSA's International Committee (IC), and the rest of the Chapter's work around issues such as immigration, Palestinian liberation, the National Democratic Struggle in the Philippines, and Cuba solidarity. Every third Tuesday of the month, 6:30pm Help us welcome members into the seas of socialism! Right now, we're building pipelines to get new and old members plugged into the Chapter and its campaigns. If you're into breaking down barriers to engagement, this is a place for you.

Curious about socialism? Are you new to DSA? Are you new to Long Beach? Then our Political Education Committee invites you to our DSA-LB 101. At this orientation, we’ll talk about: how capitalism functions and why socialism is radically opposed to it the history of our organization and our chapter in particular the current projects we’re working on and how you can get involved We'll also learn more from you about where you want to plug in and answer questions you might have! This is a great starting point to meet other new members, get connected, and ground yourself with some of the basic politics of our org. RSVP for Link.

The question every socialist needs to ask is 'what is to be done'?  When we look around and see all of the problems that surround us, we can feel helpless. We don't have much power alone, but our collective power can change the world! So how do we take advantage of that power as a united working class? Well, that's where organizing comes in. DSA is an 'organization of organizers', where we recognize that we each have a role to play in our struggle for socialism. If you're looking to improve your organizing skills or learn some new ones, this is this place to start. Our Fundamentals of Organizing series will cover: What is Organizing? (virtual): Understanding the role of the organizer and how to develop a campaign to win strategic demands From Strategy to Tactics (virtual): Learning how to use tools like power mapping and research to determine the necessary steps to win demands Building People Power (in person): Developing practices to build a base through 1 on 1 conversations, ladders of engagement, and listwork. These lessons build off one another so it's recommended that you attend them in order when possible.  **Due to limited in person space, priority for the third session will be given to those who have attended the first two meetings. Philosophers have only interpreted the world. The point is to change it.

Last Thurs. of each month, 6pm Get involved in our electoral work on the local level and drop by our monthly Electoral Politics Committee (EPC) Meeting. We regularly discuss ways to get involved in campaigns and how to move electeds on policy issues. If you want to help us democratize electoral power, build a popular working class movement, and strategize to reshape our organizing conditions through electoral means this is the place for you!*If you're an elected official looking for an endorsement, visit our  page. You must be a member of DSA to be eligible for an official endorsement. You can also join our regular in-person co-working sessions where we dive into current projects together. Whether you're a seasoned organizer or a first-timer, these are a great place to meet other Committee members and get involved in the hands-on organizing work.
