Democratic Socialists of America Long Beach

We are the Long Beach Chapter of the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA), the largest socialist organization in the country with 120,000 members nationwide.

DSA is a "big-tent" organization made up of local Chapters like ours. We fight every day to shift the balance of power from the ruling class back to working people.

Our movement believes in a better future, and we're building it right here in Long Beach.

Our Socialist Vision

We're organizing our communities to dismantle capitalism and replace it with an economic system that works for the working class. Our goal is to achieve a worker-controlled democracy where working people, the majority, have control over our own lives — not the billionaires and political establishment.

How We Win

Dismantling capitalism requires organizing a multiracial collective of working class people to fight for economic, racial, gender, labor, and climate justice from the ground up.

Organizing the Organizers - Leadership Seminar

Virtual Event
As organizers, we are always learning and adjusting, navigating the unique interpersonal dynamics at play within an organization. How we conduct ourselves within the Chapter, amongst each other, is a key factor in our ability to build a mass base and wage successful external campaigns. The goal of this study session is to further develop ourselves as organizers who work sustainably to strengthen our Chapter by focusing on our internal organizational practices. Let’s learn how to… Identify and gear work towards chapter needs Ensure the work isn’t accidentally counter-intuitive or anti-organizing Identify gaps and come up with effective solutions Regularly check in with ourselves and our work Since this is a study session, members are strongly encouraged to read the materials prior to attending. Members are asked to bring examples of how the materials connect to or inform our Chapter internal organizational practices. Reading Materials: Lesson 1 of Secrets of a Successful Organizer The Tyranny of Structurelessness Twenty Enemy Forces Within a Revolutionary Organization that Must Be Combatted Against Vulgarising the Slogan of Self-Criticism
