We are the Long Beach chapter of the Democratic Socialists of America

At DSA-LB we believe that both the economy and society should be run democratically to meet human needs, not to make profits for a few. We are a political and activist organization, not a party; through campus and community-based chapters DSA members use a variety of tactics, from legislative to direct action, to fight for reforms that empower working people.

What we believe

  1. Everyone should be able to live a full and dignified life.
  2. The economy must be run democratically; none shall be poor so another can be rich.
  3. The abolition of poverty.
  4. Affordable, humane housing for all.
  5. Universal Medicare-for-all.
  6. Free education: from pre-K to trades, college and beyond.
  7. Democracy in the workplace; all workers have the right to organize.
  8. Complete reproductive freedom in all forms.
  9. An end to racial, gender and all other forms of oppression.
  10. An end to punitive justice and mass incarceration.
  11. An end to military and police aggression.
  12. Democratic control over the environment to preserve the planet.
